Valentine's is all about love so there is no better day to celebrate the girlfriends in your life!
Last year we hosted a rice krispie decorating party for my daughter and her friends. It was so much fun that we decided to host another event this year. Thinking about what would be a great theme, my daughter came up with a tea and even better yet, a Dolly & Me Tea. She invited a few special friends and told them to bring their American Girl Doll.
I designed the party space with an array of pinks, white and reds. I kept the food simple for the young ladies, with peanut butter sandwiches, fruit salad and veggie sticks.
Each place setting was set with Valentine inspired plate, cup, straw and napkin. Cardstock in coordinating colors were used as a placemat with each girls name written in the corner. In the middle of each place setting were beautiful matching bracelets, one for each guest and her doll.
The American Girl stories were my favorite as a kid, I used my old book sets for added height on the table and dessert buffet.
Valentine's isn't complete without the sweets! Strawberry wafer cookies, sugar cookies dipped in pink candy melts and sprinkled with hearts, shortbread heart cookies and lots of chocolate!
I always love adding flowers to any event when I can. The arrangements don't have to be specially ordered, again keep it simple, yet still pretty and fresh. I grabbed a few bouquets of carnations from the grocery store and set them in a beautiful hobnail glass jar.
After lunch the girls headed to the craft table to create their own Valentine's to give to friends, teachers or family. They had so much fun, a crafting table for a group of 7 year old's is definitely a winner!
I had a selection of stickers, stamps, washi tape and paper, the girls could use the scissors, glue and pens to create their own masterpiece.
This party was fun for the little ladies, but any playdate is also an excuse for the moms to get together too! I served chicken salad boats and cucumber sandwiches to have with the fruit salad and veggie sticks. Paired with some Rose' we mom's had just as much fun!
I found this fun game at Target, "What's on your Phone?". Something silly that us mom's had quite the good laugh at while scrolling through our phones. Hey if the girls can have fun and giggle while crafting, we mom's can have fun and giggle too!
I really love celebrating the great friendships that my daughter and I have created, such fun memories we are creating. I think this may start to become a yearly tradition. Happy Valentine's Day!
